Fleurieu Coastal Retreat is situated on a 12-acre block at Myponga Beach on the Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia. It was formerly agricultural land and prior to its purchase in 2008 was primarily used for grazing sheep and cattle.

Its new owners have undertaken to restore much of the land to its former pre-European native habitat and with assistance from the Adelaide Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resource Management Board, much of the block is subject to an ongoing revegetation program. There have been great results so far and already the retreat provides a habitat to many species of birds and other species of fauna. The block has a walking trail that meanders amongst majestic gum trees, lush flower-bearing shrubs and grassland, home to kangaroos and a huge diversity of birdlife.

Stunning Coastal and Rural Views

Elevated on the hillside above Myponga Beach, Fleurieu Coastal Retreat offers fantastic North facing views toward Gulf St Vincent and the rolling hills of the surrounding rural area. Witness stunning sunrises and sunsets from the comfort of the house, or from many great vantage points right across the property. The Retreat provides a panoramic views of the ocean and the constantly changing sky. At night, guests can sit back, relax and view the lights of the coast and Adelaide, or the billions of stars in the clear skies above.

The owners of Fleurieu Coastal Retreat have undertaken to restore much of the property to its natural, pre-European ecosystem. The property had previously been heavily grazed by sheep, which had caused erosion problems on the gully slopes and a general loss of biodiversity.

With less than 25% of the native vegetation remaining in the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Region, Fleurieu Coastal Retreat provides a sanctuary to a great diversity of native plants and animals. With support from the Adelaide & Mount Lofty Natural Resources Management Board, an ongoing re vegetation program has helped to restore life and colour to the land.
